Years ago, women who underwent facelifts were discontented because of the long recovery, unsightly scars and the “tight” look. Traditional facelifts are now a thing of the past as with the advent of the Aptos Thread or the innovative “Feather Lift” procedure. A Russian technology, the Aptos Thread Lift is a non-surgical facial rejuvenation method which takes less than an hour and the results are amazing.
The procedure is done with a “feather-weight” high resistance thread that anchor to the facial tissues as the doctor lifts the sagging anatomical structures following the appropriate direction to obtain the desired younger look.
The facial features will remain perfectly “anchored” in their new position for years to come. The wonderful fact that the threads can be “touched up” in later years to maintain your natural and youthful appearance makes this procedure invaluable.
What is the process like?
First, the area that needs lifting will be determined. A diagram is drawn on the patient’s face, plotting the thread’s path. A thin hollow needle is used to puncture the starting point of the diagram, into the drawn path, and exits at the point where the path ends. The threads are then inserted into the deep subcutaneous layer of the skin using this hollow “needle”. Once the threads are properly placed the needle is pulled out leaving only the thread under the skin. The ends of the thread are pulled up, hence lifting the skin and they are eventually snipped off.
How long is the treatment?
The treatment takes around 1 hour and is done under twilight sedation. It is an out-patient procedure.
Are results immediate or is there a grace period?
There is a grace period. Right after the procedure, aside from minimal bleeding at the puncture sites, patients may experience some swelling because the skin was manipulated. But the swelling subsides in a week’s time. Early results can be seen in just less than 24 hours. Real results can be seen after two weeks. And final results show in less than four weeks. Further tightening and lifting of the skin is noted several months after the procedure was done.
Are there any restrictions after the treatment?
Post-treatment, the patient is requested to refrain from chewing vigorously and making a lot of facial movements for the next two weeks. This is to allow the threads to be anchored well on the areas they were inserted.
