During the procedure |
Originating from Italy, this state-of-the-art
liposuction technology uses a pulsed, Nd: YAG laser system.
It is a new-generation procedure which enables to treat body
adiposities through the laser’s ability to dissolve or
liquefy redundant body fat with heat.
How does it work?
It makes use of an Nd; YAG 1064 laser that acts
directly on the fat cells by destroying the membrane and releasing
fatty and oily deposits extracellularly making suction easier
after. The laser pulses are released through a fiberoptic and
inserted through a thin cannula into the fat layer of the skin.
How long is the treatment?
The procedure is done under sedation and lasts
for 2 to 4 hours, depending on the area being treated.
What are its advantages over the regular liposuction?
The heat generated by the laser helps constrict
the blood vessels making the procedure less bloody. The patient
will experience less pain and bruising after the treatment.
It also helps to make the overlying skin contract better. Post-op
recovery is also faster.
Do you always have to suction with the Smartlipo?
The Smartlipo can stand alone and a patient may
not opt to do suction after. In these cases, we subject the
area treated to several sessions of Lipolite treatment to enhance
the excretion of the melted fat via the lymphatic system. If
no suction is done, results are seen in 4 months, after which
the patient can decide whether to do another treatment or not.
The use of Smartlipo alone is only 30% as effective when suction
is not performed. We encourage that the patient undergo suctioning
after unless the problem area is very small and complaint is
only loose skin.
When will I see results?
You will notice a significant change in
your body after a few days. However, real change comes only
after 6 weeks, when most of the swelling is gone.
