Many years ago, women who underwent facelifts were
unhappy because of the long recovery, scars and the “tight”
look. Well, that was the traditional facelift. Welcome to the
new way …
SAY HELLO TO APTOS THREAD.
Aptos Thread or the innovative “Feather Lift”
facial procedure is the hottest method in the field of Dermatology
since the birth of the traditional facelift. From the Russian
technology founded and pioneered by Dr. Marlen Sulamanidze and
Dr. George Sulamanidze, the Aptos Thread Lift is a non-surgical
facial rejuvenation method.
• The results are amazing!
• The procedure takes less than an hour.
• Early results can be seen immediately.
• Real results can be seen after two weeks.
• Final results in less than four weeks.
• All these for just one hour of your time.
The Belo Medical Group is proud to be the first
to introduce and endorse Aptos Thread to the Philippines.
How does Aptos work?
The basic idea is simple. A “feather weight”
high resistance thread anchors itself to the facial tissue as
the doctor lifts the sagging anatomical structures following the
direction appropriate to obtain the desired younger look.
The facial features will remain perfectly “anchored”
in their new position for years to come. The wonderful fact that
the threads can be “touched up” in later years to
maintain your natural and youthful appearance makes this procedure
invaluable.
Before Aptos Thread, the only resource available
was the traditional facelift with all the accompanying risks of
trauma, pain, prolonged recovery and high cost.
With Aptos Thread, women and men can undergo facelifts
without having to go under the knife, resulting in no scars, less
bruising, quicker recovery time and a more natural look.
What is Aptos Thread’s main advantage over
the surgical facelift?
The Aptos Thread gives the face a very subtle lift
without the tight look. The threads are injected using a hollow
needle and there are no resultant scars, hence, the name “seamless
facelift”. With most surgical facelifts, the patient may
end up with overly stretched skin because the procedure entails
removal of few millimeters of skin from your face. On the other
hand, the Aptos Thread lifts saggy areas of your face while working
on the same volume of skin. The changes are not too drastic.
What kind of thread is used in Aptos Thread facelifts?
Dr. Sulamanidze calls Aptos threads as “magic
threads”, because they are anti-ptotic. The Aptos thread
is made of metal, polymeric or biological material, which is highly
compatible with human body tissue. It uses minute hair-like threads
that work to lift and station the facial tissue in place to create
a more youthful and attractive look. These threads are almost
as thin as a strand of hair. However, when you look at them under
a microscope you will see that it has little fins that run in
2 directions. These fins act like teeth that hold up the cheeks,
jaw or eyebrows.
What is the process like?
First, we determine which areas need lifting. A
diagram is drawn on the patient’s face, plotting the thread’s
path. A thin hollow needle is used to puncture the starting point
of the diagram, into the drawn path, and exits at the point where
the path ends. The threads are then inserted into the deep subcutaneous
layer of the skin using this hollow “needle”. Once
the threads are properly placed the needle is pulled out leaving
only the thread under the skin. The ends of the thread are pulled
up, hence lifting the skin and they are eventually snipped off.
How deep into the skin is the thread embedded?
The thread is inserted into the third layer of the
skin, the subcutaneous layer, so there’s very minimal bleeding.
The little bleeding that does occur is present only at puncture
sites.
Is there any need for anesthesia?
Only local anesthesia. In fact, the procedure is
so simple it’s usually over in less than an hour. However
if preferred, the patient may request for twilight sedation.
Does the level of skin maintenance affect the results of Aptos
Thread Lifts?
Of course. Skin that has much photo damage and is
poorly maintained leaves us with more to work on. Results of Aptos
Thread Lifts would evidently be better with women who took good
care of their skin. Not all cases of sagging skin can be addressed
by the Aptos Thread. There are instances when fillers are necessary
to improve accompanying volume loss. On the other hand, severe
sagging and redundant skin may warrant surgical options.
Are results permanent?
The results may last around 5 years. The look is
very natural and soft.
Are results immediate or is there a grace period?
There is a grace period. Right after the procedure,
aside from minimal bleeding at the puncture sites, patients may
experience some swelling because the skin was manipulated. But
the swelling subsides in a week’s time. Early results can
be seen in just less than 24 hours. Real results can be seen after
two weeks. And final results show in less than four weeks. Further
tightening and lifting of the skin is noted several months after
the procedure was done.
Are there contra-indications that patients should keep in mind
after the procedure?
Yes. Right after the procedure, the Aptos Thread
will take about two weeks to stabilize. Patients are requested
to keep facial movements to a minimum the during the first two
weeks so as to displace the threads. So within that period, the
patient must wash her face very gently - no vigorous massaging
and rubbing. And she should pat her face dry with the towel -
no wiping and rubbing. The patient should also avoid lying down
on one side as well as making exaggerated facial expressions (like
wide-mouthed laughing). She should also stay away from tough food
because painstaking chewing might also displace the thread. But
after two weeks, she can carry on normally.
Does a person have to be of certain age to undergo the procedure?
Not really. It all depends on the severity of the
sagging and how well you’ve maintained your skin. There
are 35-year-old women who look older and more haggard than some
women in their late forties because of their kind of lifestyle.
But normally, we do the procedure on women 35 and above, mostly
because women in their 20's don’t really need facelifts
yet.
