Also known as Mastopexy, breast lift surgery restores a perkier, firmer shape to sagging breasts by removing the excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to support and reshape the new breast contour.
After sedation, the doctor makes incisions to restructure your breast by lifting or reshaping the underlying breast tissue. The nipple can also be repositioned to a natural, more youthful height, while enlarged areolas can be reduced by excising skin. Excess breast skin is then removed to avoid sagging.
What it targets:
Breasts that have lost their shape and firmness because age, pregnancy, or breastfeeding.
You may be sore and drowsy for a day or two. You will be required to wear a surgical bra for the first few days, and will be advised to avoid strenuous activities for at least four weeks. Breasts will feel sensitive and tender, and the discomfort, swelling and bruising may last for two to three weeks. Full recovery usually takes a couple of months.
