Malar Augmentation creates a more youthful appearance by emphasizing your cheekbones, or filling in sunken, gaunt cheeks. The cheek fat pad is removed from the cheekbone through the incision in the mouth, and then is passed under the skin to the incision in the temple area. This elevates the cheek fat pad and the corner of the mouth for a more lifted look. The bagginess of the lower eyelids can also be removed through these cheek procedures. Silicone implants or fat grafts (excess fats from other parts of the body) may also be used enhance and reshape the cheeks.

Post-surgery, patients are advised to take about a week off to recover. During this time, you can expect your cheeks to be sore, swollen, and bruised, and it’ll be uncomfortable to chew, smile, or yawn. It is important to keep your head and neck elevated at all times for the first few days to keep the implant from shifting out of place.
