What to Expect During Breast Lift Recovery Time

Breast Lift Recovery

With nice looking breasts come the responsibility to take care of them, and with it comes breast lift recovery time. “Lift is easy enough to do,” Dr. Lutgardo Caparas says, but if the patient gets pregnant again, she can have another one—there’s really no limitation to how many times you can get one.”

Dr. Caparas goes on to say that with the procedure—which is considered to be a surgical one—comes with certain precautions to ensure that your breasts will be as how you wanted them to look like. Here are some measures to take:

  1. Say no to exercise for six months. Even bending or lifting a little could make a difference post-procedure! While you’ll probably be up and about after a week or so to recover, you will need to avoid exercising heavily for at least half a year—all that movement in the chest area can compromise your new look.
  2. Consider wearing the right support. Sports bras are designed to give your breasts more support than the everyday bra, so talk to your doctor about whether wearing a sports bra or another type of garment made specifically for that purpose would help keep your breasts in shape.
  3. Sleep on your back. And even if it should go without saying, we’ll still say it, just in case—sleeping belly down is a no-no.
  4. Expect scarring. Scars are for life, but they do fade in a year or two, and you’ll be able to keep them out of focus when wearing undergarments or swimsuits.
  5. Maintain the weight. With age comes loss in your skin’s elasticity, and that includes the breasts—which means that it can sag again throughout time, especially if you gain more weight than usual. Keeping your weight stable will help maintain the results of your breast lift.
